PITCHING & HITTING LESSONS

Kim Gwydir was the head coach at Florida International University for 10 years where she started the Fastpitch program and guided the young program to multiple Top 25 ranking and a Regional Appearance. Kim has worked with the Hurricanes Organization for many years and was the pitching coach for the Gold Team that won ASA Gold Nationals in 2008. While working with Gold Coast, Kim has mentored such pitchers as Stephanie Brombacher (UF), Kelsie Dunne (Alabama), and Rachele Fico (LSU) to name a few. Coach Gwydir currently works with USA Elite Training LLC who has brought their acclaimed teaching methodology to South Florida with their center adjacent to Memorial West Hospital in Pembroke Pines.

Kim has an extensive coaching background. It starts with being the first female varsity baseball coach in the NY Catholic HS Baseball League in 1988 when she worked at St. Anthony’s HS on Long Island. Coach Gwydir also was the founder and first 18 and under coach for the Long Island Chargers Junior Olympic fastpitch softball organization and built it into the premier softball organization in the area. Kim was inducted into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame May, 2006 for her work with youth fastpitch softball on Long Island. After guiding the LIU- CW Post fastpitch softball team to a regional berth, Kim moved to Florida in 1998 and started the softball program at Florida International University and became their first Head Coach. At FIU she amassed over 440 victories and achieved several NCAA top 25 rankings.

 

Coach Gwydir has won 4 Coach of the Year Awards and has instructed many top softball players including a USA Olympian and several members of the Canadian National Team Program as well as many All State and All County award winners. Recent students include Aimee Chapdelaine (American Heritage HS/ U of Virginia) Kara Clauss (Cooper City HS/ George Washington U) and Corrine Clauss (Cooper City HS/ Providence College).
